Your Ladies Section Needs you!
I hope in the current climate all of you are enjoying your golf at Stoke Park and making the most of this fantastic weather.
Having recently re-started the weekly Ladies Group Clinics on a Saturday morning, what has been great to see is how a lot of Ladies have used this as a means of getting into the main social circle and are now fully enjoying the Stoke Park experience. With an action packed Ladies competition calendar now available for 2020, this is a brilliant opportunity to continue enjoying regular social golf or if you haven't already, start playing regular social golf in competitions. For those Ladies in the Academy, hopefully you are making the most of the Lane Jackson course and available individual lesson each month.
Stoke Park has some wonderful facilities and a great golf course, but being part of a fantastic society is what really makes your membership worth while. You as a Stoke Park member make the Ladies section better as much as the Ladies section complements your membership too! Judy Fitch, your Ladies Captain, has done a superb job introducing systems such as buddy systems to make you all feel welcome and united. and we wish to go that step further to help create this environment.
Whether you are a long term member, someone who has recently joined the game or an aspiring member in the academy section, we all have a duty to help one another enjoy our respective games, especially on Tuesday mornings. It is therefore appropriate that we are all up to speed with the rules of golf and course etiquette.
With competition/social golf comes the sometimes complicated or intimidating rules as well as the do's and dont's in course etiquette. To help, especially given the implementation of the new rules of golf recently, I have put together a simple 4 week programme to ensure you are all golfing street wise! Whether you want to obtain a simple refresher on these ins and outs or some of you feel the need to learn from the beginning, this will put any questions or doubts to rest.
These sessions will take place for an hour at 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday as of Wednesday 19th August for 4 weeks. The normal cost would be £80 for the duration of the program. However, to look after you further, I will be offering 50% off this price, bringing the total to £40 for 4 sessions!
In these sessions we will cover:
Week 1- General Rules
As overwhelming the rules may seem, I shall explain them in a much simpler manor through some simple situations set up either on the practice area or on the course.
Week 2- Competition Formats and Marking a Scorecard
Although many different formats, I will enlighten you as to what they are and how fun their variations can be through a few competitions set around the practice green!
Week 3- General Course Etiquette
The unwritten rules! Although not in the R&A rule book, we will play the course and talk through course etiquette such as where to stand whilst others take their shot, repairing pitch marks, and tips on how to maintain a good pace of play.
Week 4- Putting it all together!
Having taught you all I know, we shall jump onto the golf course and play some golf putting into practice what we have learnt the previous three sessions!
To confirm your interest please email myself (kblackshaw@stokepark.com) and I look forward to helping you all become the font of all knowledge for rulings amongst your groups when you head out onto the golf course!
Kind regards,
Kieran Blackshaw
